Cyriocosmus perezmilesi (0.5cm)

Appearance & Characteristics Cyriocosmus perezmilesi, often called the Bolivian Dwarf Beauty, is a tiny gem in the tarantula world. It features a bright, copper-orange carapace that contrasts sharply with its dark, patterned abdomen. Like other members of the genus, it often displays a heart-shaped patch on its rump. These 0.5 cm slings are small but very active and have a fantastic feeding response, making them a joy to raise.

Temperament & Venom This species is generally docile and calm, making it highly recommended for beginners. While they can be fast and skittish when disturbed, they are not defensive. They possess urticating hairs, but their small size makes them much less intimidating than larger New World species. Their venom is very mild, comparable to a bee sting, and is not considered significant for humans.

Husbandry Keeping C. perezmilesi is quite easy. They require moderate to high humidity (70-80%) and a warm environment between 25°C and 28°C. A moist substrate like coco fiber or peat moss is essential. They enjoy burrowing, so providing a few inches of substrate will allow them to create their silk-lined tunnels. Due to their small adult size, they are perfect for space-saving setups.
