They are generally skittish and fast, preferring to retreat rather than stand their ground. They possess urticating hairs as a defense mechanism. Their venom is considered mild, making them a relatively safe choice for intermediate keepers or focused beginners.

Husbandry Keeping Cyclosternum sp. aureum is straightforward. They require a moist environment with humidity levels around 70-80%. A substrate that holds moisture well, like a coconut fiber and peat mix, is recommended. Maintain temperatures between 24°C and 27°C. Because they remain small even as adults, a large enclosure is not necessary, but providing hiding spots like cork bark is essential for their well-being.
