Appearance & Characteristics Grammostola rosea red (often called RCF – Red Color Form) is a highly sought-after color variant of the classic Rose Hair tarantula. Unlike the standard form, these specimens develop a dense covering of bright, coppery-red hairs over their entire body. These 1cm spiderlings are in their early growth stage and will gradually showcase more intense coloration with each molt. They are slow growers but remarkably long-lived, with females often reaching over 20 years in age.

Temperament & Venom This species is the gold standard for docile tarantulas. They are generally slow-moving and predictable. Like the standard form, the "red" variety is known for occasional natural "hunger strikes" where they may refuse food for long periods—this is completely normal. Their venom is very mild and medically insignificant to humans, making them one of the safest species for hobbyists of all experience levels.

Husbandry Native to the arid regions of Chile, this tarantula is incredibly resilient. In captivity, they thrive at temperatures between 24-29°C, which encourages a better metabolism and appetite. A terrestrial enclosure with dry substrate and a shallow water dish is all they need. They are very adaptable and forgiving of minor mistakes, making them the perfect introduction to the world of tarantula keeping.
