One of the most vibrant and visually stunning tarantulas in the world. It features intense orange-red legs that give it a unique, exotic look. A great choice for any keeper.
The Brachypelma boehmei, commonly known as the Mexican Fireleg, is a standout species thanks to its incredible coloration. Its legs are covered in bright orange-red hairs, creating a striking contrast against the dark abdomen and light-colored carapace. These spiderlings will gradually develop their fiery colors with every molt. Known for their hardiness and longevity, females can live for over 20 years, making them a long-term companion for hobbyists.
Temperament & Venom This species is well-regarded for its docile nature. They move slowly and are generally very predictable. Their primary defense mechanism is flicking urticating hairs from their abdomen, which they may do more readily than other Brachypelma species when disturbed. Their venom is mild and considered medically insignificant to humans, making them an excellent choice for both beginners and experienced keepers looking for a display species.
Husbandry Native to the arid regions of Mexico, B. boehmei thrives in a terrestrial setup with low to moderate humidity. A dry substrate like coco fiber or peat moss is ideal. The enclosure should provide enough floor space, a hide, and a shallow water dish. Maintaining temperatures between 25-28°C is recommended to ensure the health and steady growth of this beautiful Mexican species.
