It rarely shows any defensiveness and possesses very mild venom, making it one of the safest species for keepers. When disturbed, it is more likely to retreat slowly than to act defensively. Like most New World species, it possesses urticating hairs but is generally very reluctant to use them.

Husbandry Keeping Euathlus manicata gold is relatively straightforward. Originating from Chile, it thrives in cooler, room-temperature conditions (around 20-24°C) and prefers lower to moderate humidity levels. High heat and stagnant, damp air should be avoided. A dry substrate like coco fiber mixed with a bit of sand or clay works best. Ensure a small hide and a water dish are always available.
