This offer includes a sexed pair (female and male) of the compact Costa Rican arboreal tarantula. Known for its elegant olive-tan coloration and manageable size.
The Psalmopoeus reduncus is a visually striking arboreal species native to the tropical forests of Costa Rica. Compared to its larger cousins, this species remains more compact, reaching a legspan of approximately 12-13 cm. It boasts a beautiful, uniform olive-brown to tan coloration that reveals a stunning metallic golden sheen when illuminated.
Temperament and Venom: Like all species in the Psalmopoeus genus, the Costa Rican tarantula lacks urticating hairs. Instead, it relies on its exceptional speed and jumping ability. While primarily shy and preferring to hide in its silken retreats, it can be defensive if cornered. This combination of agility and speed makes this pair suitable for intermediate keepers who are comfortable with fast-moving arboreal spiders.
Husbandry requirements: At 5.5 cm, these spiders require a vertically oriented enclosure with a moisture-retaining substrate. Providing vertical cork bark or tubes is essential for them to build their characteristic heavy silk retreats. Maintain a temperature range of 24-27°C and a humidity level around 75%. They are voracious eaters and generally have a very consistent growth rate.
